The most expensive moment in a website project is halfway through, when someone says “actually, we wanted something else”. The cure is clarifying a few things before you ask for a quote. You don’t need a perfect document; short answers to the questions below already make a big difference.
1. One main goal
What should a visitor do on your site? Call you, request a quote, visit your shop, browse your work? Instead of wanting everything at once, pick one main goal. Every design decision will serve it.
2. Your audience
Who will visit, and on which device? Think of two or three real customers rather than “everyone”. It makes decisions about tone, colours and structure much easier.
3. A page list
Sketch a rough menu: Home, Services, About, Contact… Mark the ones you’re unsure about as “maybe”. This list is one of the biggest drivers of price.
4. Content status
Are your text, logo and photos ready? If partly, which parts are missing? Content is where most projects stall, so being upfront lets everyone plan a realistic timeline.
Yagi Share your photos even if they were taken on a phone. Deciding together what’s usable beats not seeing them at all.
5. Sites you like (and dislike)
Pick three to five examples and write one sentence about what you like in each: “calm colours”, “very clear menu”, “big photos”. Examples you dislike are just as useful.
6. Must-have features
Contact form, map, WhatsApp button, blog, booking, product list… Split them into “now” and “later”. Many features can be added afterwards, and a lean first version is kinder to both budget and timeline.
7. Budget range and timing
Even without an exact figure, a range helps us suggest a scope that fits. If there’s a fixed date, such as an opening, a trade fair or a campaign, mention it too.
Put it all in one place
Writing these seven points in a note is enough. Even easier: our quote form asks these questions step by step, or you can simply chat with Yagi, who fills the form in for you.
